Romania, 10th at the Junior Rhythmic Euros

The Rhythmic Gymnastics European Championships kick started yesterday in Azerbaidjan´s capital of Baku. Senior Alexandra Piscupescu and juniors Ana Luiza Filiorianu, Andreea Verdeș and Ștefana Popa were there to represent Romania in the competition. Bronze medal for Ana Luiza Filiorianu in Pesaro

Ana Luiza Filiorianu is not only claiming the title of top Romanian junior at this moment, she is also claiming a spot amongst the best junior gymnasts in the world. Denisa Mailat and Denisa Stoian dominate Hungary’s MTK Cup

The first stage of the Rhythmic Gymnastics World Cup is undergoing in Debrecen, Hungary, where some of the best senior and junior gymnasts of the moment have come together to compete. Although the World Cup is dedicated exclusively to seniors, juniors are competing at the “MTK Cup” International Tournament. Romania is represented only at the latter by a team of eight gymnasts, covering both categories (juniors and pre-juniors). Read more…

Ana Luiza Filiorianu qualifies for the Youth Olympic Games

This year, the Rhythmic gymnastics season barely gave its Junior gymnasts the chance to adjust their 2014 routines before going into their first major competition, the Moscow Grand Prix. The members of the Rhythmic Gymnastics Junior National Team travelled to Bulgaria last month to attend Varna’s “Prize of Queen Margarita” International Tournament. Laura Aniței, Ștefana Popa (both from Anghel Saligny Iași Club), Denisa Stoian, Livia Harcan, Cesima Nechifor (CSM Ploiești), Denisa Mailat, Alice David and Ana Luiza Filiorianu (Olimpia București) returned home with an impressive number of medals (17). Piscupescu and Ștefănescu, fifth with La Fenice in Serie A1

This year, I closely followed the Serie A1, Italys elite Rhythmic Gymnastics Championship, where Romania’s top gymnast of the past years, Alexandra Piscupescu, competed. Piscupescu, Filiorianu and Mailat, Romania´s 2013 National Champions

At the beginning of this month, Arad hosted the 2013 Romanian Rhythmic National Championship, a competition opened for both Senior and Junior gymnasts of the top two age categories: Junior I (13-15 year olds) and Junior II (11-12 year olds). All major clubs were present at this meet, with Olimpia Bucharest, Anghel Saligny Iași, CSM Ploiești and CSM Arad fighting for the title of the most successful club. Read more…

Pierre de Coubertin” program supports Romanian Rhythmic gymnastics

In what is left of this year, the best junior gymnasts will be given the chance to train in Bucharest in a camp financed by the Romanian Rhythmic Federation (FRGR) through the ˮPierre de Coubertin” program, coordinated by the Romanian Sports Ministry. The program, part of the European strategy for sport development, comes to support National Federations sport programs dedicated to children, juniors as well as the disabled. Read more…

Alexandra Piscupescu at the Cali World Games

The 9th edition of the World Games – a competition organized every four years by the International World Games Association (IWGA), which was initially meant for non-Olympic sports only – is currently under way in Cali, Colombia. Rhythmic gymnastics was one of the Olympic sports selected for this edition of the Games (this selection depends on the existing facilities in the hosting city so sports can be different from one edition to the other), with 24 gymnasts from 17 countries at the start. More than 100 gymnasts participated in the Rhythmic National Championships for Children and Juniors held in Brașov this past weekend.
