Gold for Romania’s Mixed Pair and Group at Worlds

The last day of the 2014 Aerobic World Championship ended successfully for the Romanian team, which brings home two more gold medals, adding to the three medals they won yesterday (team silverindividual silver through Corina Constantin and gold from the trio). The Romanian trio wins the World title

The second part of the longest day at the Aerobic World Championships brought two more medals for the Romanian team. With the qualification and team final now over – team Romania won silver – the competition continued with three event finals, all of them with Romanians lined up at the start. Two of these finals would turn out to be very emotional for Romanian fans, as the Romanian gymnasts were not also favorites to win a medal, but also favorites to win the title. Read more…

Silver for Romania at the Aerobic Worlds

The second day at the Cancun Aerobic World Championships was not easy for the Romanian team, which had the difficult task of catching up with the French and Chinese teams in the fight for the team gold medal. Although the Romanians had made it to all the event finals in the first day of qualification, they had not performed at the best of their ability, giving the above mentioned teams a chance to move ahead of the current World and European champion. Larisa Iordache, Marius Berbecar and Corina Constantin, Romania’s Gymnasts of the Year

The Romanian Gymnastics Federation released the 2013 standings for the two gymnastics branches under its responsibility: Artistic and Aerobic (Rhythmic Gymnastics has  its own independent Federation and will announce its selection separately). In 2013, Romanian Artistic gymnastics gathered 1 World and 7 European medals while Aerobic brought in 5 World Games and 5 European medals, with multiple World Cup medals coming from both areas. Romania, the new Aerobic European Champion

After a great start of the continental competition with a Junior team silver yesterday, the seniors took the stage today in what would turn out to be yet another Romania – Russia showdown. If Russia had sealed the Junior gold medal earlier in yesterday’s competition, neither senior team was willing to give up the fight today leaving it to the very last routine, that of the Russian group, to decide who was going to be the European champion. Silver for Romania at the Aerobic Euros

The Junior qualifications started off the first day of competition for the Romanian team at the Aerobic European Championship in Arques (France). This is also a team competition with one score from each of the five different events (Individual Women and Men, Mixed Pairs, Trio and Group) counting for the overall team standings. Zamfir and Mavrodineanu return at the Romanian Nationals

The last training stage for the upcoming Arques European Championship took place this weekend in Constanța where one of the local clubs, Farul, organized the Romanian National Championship and Farul Cup. This same club dominated the competition winning the clubs’ title over Unefs Bucharest and CSN Cetate Deva. Both senior and junior national teams were present at the meet, including a few surprises. 2013 Iași Cup: a look into the future of Romanian Aerobic gymnastics

The second part of the season is a pretty busy one for Romanian Aerobic gymnasts who are preparing major internal and international competitions, such as the Romanian Nationals or the upcoming European Championships, to be held in France in November. Cali World Games: Aerobic gymnasts bring home 2 gold and 3 silver medals

For Aerobic gymnastics, the World Games are the equivalent of the Olympics: one shot every four years to take home the title. For Romanian Aerobic gymnastics, the Cali competition was the most important event of the year with previous results putting even more pressure onto a new generation of gymnasts taking over this year. Although the Romanian coaches were very cautious in their statements at the beginning of this year, their gymnasts have risen to the occasion with every competition. Read more…

Corina Constantin and the Romanian Trio, winners of the 2013 World Cup

The 2013 edition of the Aerobic World Cup designated its winners at the end of the four stages of the competition, in Aix Les Bains (France), Tokyo (Japan), Azores Islands (Portugal) and Borovets (Bulgaria). 16 medals for Romania at the Borovets Open and World Cup

It was yet another Aerobic weekend with a new stage of the World Cup taking place in Borovets, Bulgaria. This time, Romania sent in not only Senior gymnasts, but also a number of Juniors who competed successfully in the different age categories, taking home a total of 16 medals from the competition (10 gold – 1 silver – 5 bronze). 2013 Cetate Deva Cup: results and videos

Deva´s ”Drăgan Muntean” hall was bustling with people waiting for the 16th edition of the Aerobic Gymnastics Cetate Deva Cup to start. I chose my place in the hall and watched the younger gymnasts fight their nerves while also waiting for the competition to begin. The older gymnasts calmly waited for their turn. Read more…
