Ana Luiza Filiorianu starts off the season with three gold medals

Estonia´s “Miss Valentine” International Tournament, now in its 20th year of existence, has officially opened the 2014 Rhythmic gymnastics season. This also opens the season for the Romanian gymnasts, represented here by Romania´s top Junior, Olimpia Bucharest´s Ana Luiza Filiorianu, who is looking to impress at this year´s Junior European Championship, to be held in Baku in June. 72 Junior gymnasts from 22 countries were registered for this first event of the year, which brings together, in the Estonian city of Tartu, some of the best gymnasts in the world. Ganna Rizatdinova, current Hoop World Champion, won the Senior All-around event last year, which was also part of the 2013 World Cup.

The 2014 Junior competition was split throughout the three days of competition, with two days of preliminaries and then finals. With no All-Around event, Luiza made all the four finals, coming first on ball, her best apparatus. Here is her 14.867 routine from prelims:

The Romanian then had a great day on Sunday, when all Junior finals were held. She won three of the four events (ball, ribbon and clubs) and finished just outside the podium on hoop (4th). This is a great start of the season for the current Romanian Junior champion, who is heading to Moscow next for the first Grand Prix of the year, a competition that will allow gymnasts to qualify for this summer´s Youth Olympic Games (Nanjing, China).
