Piscupescu and Ștefănescu, fifth with La Fenice in Serie A1

This year, I closely followed the Serie A1, Italy‘s elite Rhythmic Gymnastics Championship, where Romania’s top gymnast of the past years, Alexandra Piscupescu, competed. She had joined Spoleto’s La Fenice Club last year and had helped their team make it to the “premiere league” of the Italian Championship. This year, Alexandra, Andreea Ștefănescu (she started gymnastics in Iași but has been competing successfully for Italy since 2006, winning the World Championship and a bronze medal at the Olympics), Giulia Ricci, Alice Betti, Agnese Duranti and Eleonora Nobili fought to place as high as possible in the standings of a championship full of top talent (World Champion Ganna Rizatdinova, Alina Maksimenko, Melitina Staniouta, Marina Durunda or Viktoria Mazur). At the end of the four stages, La Fenice placed fifth with l‘ Armonia d’Abruzzo winning the event for the sixth time in a row.

Here are the routines of the two Romanians during these four stages of the competition  (they always received the highest scores of their club):
