Four out of six gold medals for Romania at Massilia

Larisa Iordache, Andreea Munteanu, Ana Maria Ocolișan and Ștefania Stănilă travelled to Marseille for the fourth edition of Elite Gym Massilia, which included a Team and All-around competition (Massilia Master) and the event finals (Top Massilia). Joining them there were teams from Russia, Great Britain, France, Canada, Belgium and Germany. All the Romanian girls performed on all four events, winning four out of the six gold medals (Team, All-around, beam and floor) and another four silver medals (All-around, beam, floor and vault).

The first day of the competition was dedicated to the team event, which also included the individual All-around final. Romania won both, with Larisa and Andreea placing first and second, respectively, in the All-around. Here are the girls’ scores and links to some of their routines:

With Larisa, Andreea and Ana Maria qualified to three of the four event finals (exception was Bars), the second day saw the Romanians add five more medals to the three won previously. Larisa and Andreea dominated the beam and floor finals placing first and second, respectively. In the vault final, Larisa placed second, behind Russia’s Alla Sosnitskaya, with Ana Maria Ocolișan coming in fifth.
