The 2013 Romanian Cup, one of the most important internal Rhythmic gymnastics competitions of the year, was held in Bucharest at the beginning of this month with the top six gymnasts in the country per category taking part. This time, the competition included a new event dedicated to the best Romanian Juniors, “Cupa Tinerelor Speranțe” (Young Hopes Cup), who had been selected in September for a special Bucharest training camp supported through the Pierre de CoubertinEuropean program.

With Alexandra Piscupescu traveling to Spain for the Euskalgym Gala, Olimpia Bucharest´s Adriana Teocan (right) dominated the senior competition, winning the Romanian Cup for the first time in her career. Hermina Dohotariu (CSS1 Constanța) and Romania’s representative at this year’s Vienna European Championship, Diana Văleanu (CSS Reșița), completed the podium here. Olimpia continued its series of wins with the most important Junior category, where Ana Luiza Filiorianu (left) prevailed. The 14 year old is one of Romania’s hopes for a qualification at the 2016 Rio Olympics, something that has not been achieved since 1992, when Irina Deleanu competed at the Barcelona Games. The podium was completed by Anghel Saligny Iași‘s Andreea Verdeș (who also went on to win the Hopes Cup for this age category) and Ștefana Popa.

Luiza’s ball routine is also one of the most beautiful routines of this season:

Category III was also dominated by one gymnast from the same Bucharest club, Olimpia. After having added the National and the Spring Cup titles to her collection, Denisa Mailat (below) closed a very successful year by winning both this competition and the Hopes Cup of this category. Alice David (Olimpia) and Sonia Ichim (CSM Arad) followed her in the All-around standings.

Category IV included a duel between two little but very talented gymnasts, Anghel Saligny Iași´s Laura Aniței (right) and CSM Ploiești´s Denisa Stoian (left). If Laura placed first in the All-around and with hoop, Denisa came first with ribbon and rope.

The Little Gymnast category included an individual and a group event, both won by the Unefs Bucharest gymnasts. Alis Bogdan prevailed in the individual final in front of Ana Mezei, from the same club and CSM Arad’s Sara Pană.
