Romania brings home the 2013 Swiss Cup

Romania’s top two gymnasts at the moment, Larisa Iordache and Andrei Muntean, continued their Swiss competitions week by taking part in the 2013 Swiss Cup, held in Zurich. This event has an unique format, bringing together pairs of gymnasts from the same country who compete on three events each. It includes two preliminary rounds, where all teams compete on two events with the top eight going into the semifinal. Only the top four make it to the final where they get to choose the event they want to compete on. It’s really a fun competition both for those performing and for those of us watching. The 2013 edition had important names lining up at the start: World champion Fabian Hambuchen competed for Germany, European champion Giulia Steingruber for Switzerland and Olympic champion Zhang Chenlong for China, among others.
