Together with the upcoming Swiss Cup, the Arthur Gander Memorial is one of the most important gymnastics competitions held in Switzerland, alternating each year between the cities of Chiasso and Morges. The Romanians have been very successful in the past editions of this one day event both in the women’s and the men’s competition, with gymnasts such as Ana Porgras, Sandra Izbașa, Cătălina Ponor, Flavius Koczi, Marian Drăgulescu or Marius Urzică, just to name a few, taking home the All-around titles. The All-around format of this competition includes any three events for the women and any four events for the men.

This year, Larisa Iordache and Andrei Muntean were selected to represent Romania at this event and they did not disappoint at all. Larisa competed on her three best events, taking out bars, to win both awards of the women’s competition: the All-around title, in front of Switzerland’s Giulia Steingruber and Germany’s Elisabeth Seitz and the special trophy awarded for the best floor routine, with a 14.250. Andrei Muntean also came in very close to a win here, placing just 0.2 behind Switzerland’s Pablo Braegger. Find complete results from this competition here.

This Sunday, both gymnasts will be competing in Zurich at the 2013 Swiss Cup, an interesting competition due to its unique format, with gymnasts competing in pairs. Again, Romania has been one of the most successful countries at this event with Steliana Nistor / Flavius Koczi, Oana Ban / Marian Drăgulescu or Daniela Silivaș / Nicușor Pascu winning past events.
