Andreea Munteanu wins the Lugano International Trophy

9 countries lined up for the 2013 Città di Lugano International Trophy, a Junior MAG and WAG competition held in Switzerland this past Saturday. Romania won the competition twice, through Cerasela Pătrașcu (2007) and Amelia Racea (2009). This time, Andreea Munteanu and Laura Jurcă represented Romania in the women’s competition, with Liviu Necșa and Robert Ghiuzan competing in the men’s event.

Andreea Munteanu (photo), in her third competition of the season, earned top scores on vault, beam and floor and the second highest score on bars to win the competition over Russia´s Maria Bondareva and Anastasia Dmitrieva. Laura placed 7th, behind Viktoria Kuzmina, earning her highest score on vault. Cristian Moldovan, now one of the Izvorani coaches, accompanied the two in Switzerland.

In the men´s event, Robert placed 12th with Liviu coming in 17th in a competition won by Switzerland’s Christian Baumann. Here are their scores:
